Welcome to Disco Genie we have set up this site for anyone wishing to have a party whether the event be a children’s party all the way through to a cooperate function, we have strived a to find you as many DJ's and Function rooms as we can.

The reason this site was set up was trying to find a DJ is only one part of organizing a party we believe that by listing not only DJ's but also venue's we can help you make your party a success.
With many of the DJ's and Venues we have provided not only have we given you an address, telephone number and contact where possible we have also got a description for the DJ's and venue's and the services they provide.

Service to DJ's , Agency's and Venues

Dj’s, agencies and venues will be provided with what we believe to be very useful tools to help them with selling their services. Such as a personal profile providing information as to the type of night they specialize in and the equipment and lighting they use. The Dj’s, agency’s and venues will also get the opportunity of putting 2 or 3 pictures showing their set up and the opportunity to build their own webpage with their company details on.

We also provide the opportunity for DJ's, agencies and venues to have a personalized web site, the site will contain all the necessary information across four or more pages.

We aim to encourage people that would like to become a Dj to do so, they can read our how to get started and what to expect guides, information of the disco equipment you need and where to get it is also available. You will also be able to put yourselves on the site to start getting work.

DJ Public Liability insurance is one of the first things you should do if setting up a mobile disco company.

It covers you should an accident happen to yourself, your clients or your equipment. A lot of entertainment agencies will not take on DJ's without PLI, some agency's even offer DJ PLI as part of joining the agency.

Most venues require proof of a DJ's Public Liability insurance and that the DJ equipment they use has been PAT tested.

Digital DJ license

A new introduction this year is the Digital DJ license which has been a great shamble and should have never been introduced, the digital dj license gives DJ's the right to play music stored in digital form at a disco, this is undoubtedly the biggest scam they have thought of. When buying tracks online, part of the money you pay goes to the royalties.

The license costs £200 for an annual digital dj license and allows DJs to play music in digital form.

At this price you are limited to 20,000 stored songs which sounds a lot but many DJ's will tell you this barely covers half the music collection.
This is utterly ridiculous, how can they expect DJ's to not know that most venues already pay for a license that entitles music to be played on their property.

The license is quite frankly an attempt to intimidate most hard working DJs into giving up £200 for a license that will never be taken seriously.

With so many manufactures producing disco equipment it can be hard knowing whats the best equipment to buy, there are many good websites out their to help you choose the right ones.

Some companies produce better speakers and some produce better decks its just getting the right mix.
Company's like technics make some outstanding CD decks and Vinyl decks but their speakers are not always the best.

Some dealers offer speaker and amp package deals, most are well suited so you can get the best out of the amplifier and the speakers.
Many DJ's believe the more watts your speakers the louder you can go, this is the case however if you are not into distorted output I don't advise purchasing speakers purely by wattage.

Many DJ's have moved forward with the digital age and dj from laptops, i-pods and other MP3 players as well as having some major benefits it can have similar draw backs when things go wrong.

CD Turntables - Are fast growing popular and can turn a Vinyl mixer in too a CD god!
A Mixer - Without a mixer you might as well play your music from a boom box, you use your mixer to fade between songs, make the song faster or slower and so much more this is an essential piece of disco equipment.
Turntables - Ask any DJ from the 70's and they will tell you new equipment is old news. Vinyl was king back in the day and very underestimated my some of todays new DJ's.
Headphones - Small but significant
DJ CD Players - Unlike most of todays equipment you cant manipulate songs but its great for a first time DJ and is well suited for Mobile DJ's
